Dear MST3K Revival League,
Hey, it's Joel again. I know that a lot of you have already joined our new Kickstarter to #MakeMoreMST3K, but I also know that a lot of you haven't. If you've decided not to make a pledge, that's fine – but I'm writing because we've heard that a lot of you still haven't heard about the new Kickstarter, and I don't want you to miss out on joining us. Also, we're almost out of time, so I hope you'll see this.
So, here's the big headline:
We've got just 8 hours left to #MakeMoreMST3K, we're still trying to reach our final goal to make a 13TH NEW EPISODE, and we don't want anyone to miss out!
Also, I wanted you to know that we've already reached our "top goal" which means we'll get to make at least 12 NEW EPISODES and RIFF 12 NEW SHORTS... and it also means that I'm coming back to host 2 NEW EPISODES AS JOEL ROBINSON!
And, since we're making our next season without a network, and won't be on TV or Netflix, the most reliable way to get all of these new episodes is to make a pledge right now.
- WANT TO DOWNLOAD ALL OF THE NEW EPISODES? You can reserve downloads of all of the new episodes and shorts and a bunch of classic episodes and shorts, all for just $85.
- PREFER THE EPISODES ON DISC? If you still want to do things "old school", a lot of our pledge levels include the Season 13 "Collector's Box Set"... or you can make any pledge, and add it for just $70.
- PREFER THE OLD MST3K? Or, if you just aren't excited about the "newer" MST3K, we've got that covered too! We just added a special reward that lets you download over 150 CLASSIC EPISODES & SHORTS for less than $3.50 each.

A lot of these levels are a really good value, and give you a lot of MST3K for your buck, so if any of this looks interesting, I hope you'll consider joining us again and making a pledge before 8pm PT tonight.
Also, if you decide to sit this one out – or need to – that's okay too, I won't be upset. I just want to make sure you know about it, so that you won't be disappointed later that you missed it.

The Future of MST3K Begins Tomorrow.

Hey everyone, it's Joel. I hope you’re all staying safe and well during the pandemic.
I know you’re probably wondering why I’m writing, especially after so much time has passed since our last Backer Update. Well, it's because we have some BIG NEWS, and as one of the backers who #BroughtBackMST3K, I want you to hear it from me first:
Tomorrow morning – after 6 years, 20 episodes, 2 seasons, 6 comic books, and 3 live tours – Mystery Science Theater 3000 is returning to Kickstarter to launch our next campaign.
We've got some pretty ambitious plans, and I hope you'll be as excited about them as I am. I'll tell you a lot more tomorrow, when we launch. For today, I wanted to give all of you a chance to jump to the front of the line, so you'll have the first shot at our new rewards.

Hey again, it's Joel. And just like I promised in the last update, I’ve got some big news that I've been looking forward to sharing with all of you!
This September, we’ll be back with an all-new MST3K LIVE tour!
That's right! We're hitting the road again to bring you to two more brand-new shows, with two "new" (old) cheesy movies, and this time, we're coming to at least twice as many cities as ever before! So, step right up, as MST3K LIVE presents...

Also, we're adding new venues every week, so if you don’t see your town yet, keep checking back!
I should also tell you that this tour is very special to me, because this will be my final national tour as host. So yeah, I'm hoping to have the opportunity to meet as many of you as I can during my final circuit on the road. Don’t worry, though: that doesn't mean it's the end of MST3K, or MST3K LIVE! Jonah is in his holding-pen and deeply involved creatively with this tour as a writer and riff producer too. (Also… he’s promised me he’ll go out on the next tour!)
Anyway, for this tour, we are featuring two completely weird, completely cheesy films:
"No Retreat, No Surrender"
A self-conscious teen becomes a martial arts master under the tutelage of Bruce Lee’s ghost. Featuring fresh-faced Jean-Claude Van Damme as a brooding hit man and a Bruce Lee lookalike, who looks nothing like Bruce Lee.
"Circus of Horrors"
A garish 1960s British thriller showcasing mod circus acts, plastic surgery, and animal attacks by stagehands in fur suits. Warning: Features the pop hit “Look for a Star” over and over again.
Also, on the last few tours, we weren't able to give you a "real-time" look behind the scenes of the tour… but this time, I'm happy to report that our new touring partner is really excited to have us share more of the creative process.
So, I'm happy to tell you that, for this tour, we'll actually be sharing weekly updates on our brand new tour site, at MST3KLIVE.com! And in fact, I'm even more excited to tell you that...

I just made it last Friday while we were moving in. This first one will give you a brief tour of our development workshop where we will be building the sets, props, robots and costumes over the next three months, as well as a look at the writing process on the two newest additions to the ongoing MST3K story.
So, yeah. That's the new tour we've got planned. Pretty exciting, right?
That's pretty much all for today, but I also want you to know that we're still in discussions about the future of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and making more seasons. There's no official news yet, because we're focusing most of our attention on preparing for the tour, but as soon as there's something else to share, I'll be sure to tell you.

TONIGHT: Passing The Torch to Critical Role! PLUS, updates on all remaining rewards!

Dear MST3K Revival League,
Hey, it's Joel, with a little bit of news to share about a Kickstarter that's not ours!
If you haven't already heard, the folks at Critical Role – a popular online role-playing web series – are finishing up their world-record Kickstarter campaign tonight… and it's going like gangbusters. A couple days ago, they actually passed their final stretch goal – an incredible 10 MILLION DOLLARS – which is enough to produce a whole season of their animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina.
I've got to tell you, I'm just so happy and proud for them. Their team started – just like ours – with a really humble and timely idea: a webseries that follows a really talented group of voice actors playing a role playing game. And, just like us, they have an amazing, unique fan base of backers and fans who call themselves "Critters."
Also, they have great taste! Their whole team are huge MSTies from way back, and several of them were backers on this Kickstarter… so when I saw that they were going to take over our record, I reached out and we've had a lot of wonderful discussions.
In fact, we've enjoyed talking so much that I'm writing this update to tell you that…
Tonight at 11:30pm, I'll be joining Critical Role's final Kickstarter livestream to pass along the "Championship Belt," as they become the new world-record holder for the biggest-ever Film & TV crowdfunding project!
So yeah, if you want to keep saying you were a backer on the record-holding Kickstarter, there's still time to toss them a few dollars before their campaign ends tonight.
(If you do, tell 'em Joel sent you!)
Anyway, I'm really pleased to be helping them end their Kickstarter, because it feels like a good way to celebrate the end of our record-breaking reign as the most-funded Film & TV project. You know, no record is meant to be held forever, and we've had an incredible three years to enjoy the title. Plus, for me, getting to #BringBackMST3K has been a true creative Camelot… or at least, Spamalot.
Either way, I thank you.
Of course, the end of our record doesn't mean the end of MST3K! We've got a lot more news abrewin', starting with our next big announcement on June 1 about the future of the live tour.
By now, you should also have gotten almost all of your Season 12 Pledge Drive rewards, like the t-shirts, tote bags and posters, so I hope you’ve been enjoying those. If you’re still waiting on the last rewards, you won’t have to wait much longer: we're right on schedule to send out the Collector's Box Set and Digital Download rewards at the end of May!
And, believe it or not, I'm just putting the finishing touches on the long-awaited Coffee Table Book today, so that we can send that off to print next week, and then get it to everyone who has been waiting so patiently. I know, it took a lot longer than we ever planned, but the good news is that it's now more than twice the length we originally promised – over 100 pages! – and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. Even though I know it’s frustrating to wait, and has been pushed back several times, I hope you’ll bear with us for just a little bit longer.
Just like MST3K, which took a long time to bring back, I'm hoping you'll agree it was worth the wait.
So yeah, not much longer to wait for the final rewards from Season 11 and 12, or for more news about what's next for Mystery Science Theater 3000. Stay tuned, and be sure to join us for Critical Role's final livestream tonight, and find out what all the fuss is about.
